Match Reports

Saturday 3rd March 2013 : Report by Eddy Harrigan

First game of the new season and Newtonmore started well, pushing forward and putting pressure on the Glen defence, a few early chances were squandered and once again Stuart in the Glen goal was in excellent form.
'More were camped around the Glen goal area but just couldn't convert any of the numerous chances they created, a quick breakaway by Glenurquhart ended with a good save from Mike Ritchie. This showed that the game, depite all the Newtonmore pressue, was still open. In the 31st minute the first goal finally came, a fast flowing move from the centre saw the ball find its way to the fast moving Fraser MacKintosh who made no mistake in slamming the ball past the Glen keeper. Half Time 1 0. Glenurquhart began the second half well and pushed forward but the 'More defenders held them at bay and Mike was rarely troubled. 'More again gained control of the centre and began to push forward in search of more goals but again many chances were wasted. The second goal in the 79th minute, again from Fraser, should have finished the game, however a minute later Glen had pulled one back, this didn't really change the pattern of the game with 'More straight back onto the attack, substitute John McKenzie scored 'More's 3rd goal in the 84th minute, game over? should have been but some poor defending from a free hit allowed Glenurquhart to grab a 2nd and make the last few minutes a bit tense for the Newtonmore support. Final score Newtonmore 3 Glenurquhart 2.
A winning start for the new management team.
