Newtomore Won 4-1

The first quarter hour of the game was even with chances at both ends before Mackintosh made the breakthrough in the 16th minute.  He was found 20 yards out and in centre field with a good pass from the right, and with time and space he fired home.  However, the young Kingussie side took the setback in their stride and continued to fight hard, and their efforts were rewarded in the 27th minute when James Falconer rattled home the equaliser.  After big celebration, the Kings forward line settled back into place, but was switfly breached by Newtonmore when just two minutes later Menzies restored Newtonmore's advantage.   Half time 2-1

Kingussie had given a good account of themselves but 10 minutes into the second period, Menzies was on hand once again to extend the Blue and Whiltes lead.  The home side did not let their heads drop and a second goal for the Red and Blues would have made it a nervy finale.  They pressed forward and forced Owen Fraser into making some good stops.  However, the two points were sealed with 11 minutes to go when Menzies completed his hatrick to leave the scoreline not reflecting the part that Kingussie had played in the derby encounter.

Newtonmore Manager PJ Mackintosh was pleased with the result which comes ahead of the side's semi-final clash in the Camanachd Cup this Saturday with Kinlochshiel.  He told the Strathy "You have to be happy with a 4-1 win in the local derby, but I still feel that our forwards are not gelling as well as they could and our strength has been in defence.  We've conceded less than a goal a game in the league.  We've just got the more experienced players than Kingussie at the moment and on the whiole we were better than them but they gave us a few sticky moments".
