Newtonmore are moving ominously into view in the league, and have overhauled Kingussie with two games in hand, after they claimed a 3-0 win over Lochaber in a fine match at Spean Bridge.

Fraser Mackintosh gave the visitors an early lead with a strike in the 13th minute to leave Newtonmore in front at the turn.  In the second half Newtonmore surged further ahead through Mackintosh's second in the 59th minute and the blue and whites completed the victory with an Evan Menzies goald in the 73rd minute.

Newtonmore Manager PJ Mackintosh was very pleased that Satruday's game went ahead despite the conditions which proved a challenge. "it was a hard physical game with not a lot of smooth flowing shinty due to the field cutting up" he said.  "It was very muddy and we were delighted to grind out a wind.  The players dug deep in energy sapping conditions.  There were no star performances, but a big team effort".

Veteran striker Glen Mackintosh admitted that the final scoreline gave the impression that the game was easier than it was.  He commented "Michael Ritchie in goald had a few excellent saves including one hand stop that was fantastic.  That was what ensured we kept a clean scoresheet for the third time in four games".

Scorers for Newtonmore
