Evan Menzies opened the Eilan account in the 42nd minute when he neatly picked up a lovely floated ball from the midfield and run onto into the D before slotting home. The forward suffered a painful injury in just the 15th minute, but he was able to run it off and featured strongly including a spectacular first half volley from a corner that went just over the bar.
Newtonmore again dominated throughout the second period with "Smack" in the Glen goal pulling off three more fine saves and the determined John Barr in at full back more than earning his crust against the eager "More" forwards. Barr had apparently arrived back in Scotland that morning from Norway and had driver his motorbike across from Aberdeen in time to make the start.
Glenurquhart faild to put Fraser in the "More" goal under any kind of pressure but at 1-0 were still well in the semifinal. It was not until the 81st minute when Macdonald twisted and squirmed his way through the Glen defence to fire home an excellent drive that the club's latest cup final appearance was assured.
Newtonmore manager PJ Mackintosh was pleased with another shut-out but thought his team could have tested the visitor's keeper Stuart Mackintosh more often. "Owen Fraser has come in this season for Michael Ritchie and has done well" said Mackintosh. "He's a good communicator and he deserves his first senior final in goal. We had a lot of pressure ourselves with innumerable corners, but we did not test the Glenurquhart keeper enough".
