Fort William vs Newtomore

Report by The Strathy

Newtomore Won 4-1

Newtonmore kept a step ahead of their main rival standing in the way of a seventh successive Premier title with a comfortable 4-1 win away to basement club Fort William.  Premiership top scorer Glen Mackintosh got the blue and whites off to a flying start in just four minutes, and followed this up with a second in the 39th minute.  Scott Henderson gave Fort William the briefest of faint hopes with a reply on 44 minutes.  But Evan Menzies rattled home goal number three for the Eilan side just a minute later.  Mackintosh scored his inevitable hat-trick goal in the 55th minute to seal the win.

Newtonmore Manager PJ Mackintosh was happy after securing another two points against Fort William on Saturday.  He told the Strathy "Another win for us was important in keeping the pressure on Kyles Athletic and Oban Camanachd who look like the most likely sides to get in the way of our seventh title in a row".  "We need to continue to keep our focus but they cannot really afford too many further dropped points".
