Newtonmore went into the match with Skye looking to make it a historic unbeaton season while their opponents needed to win by two clear goals to avoid the drop.  It was a tall order for the isles side and the task became almost impossible when Evan Menzies fired Newtonmore ahead in the 20th minute.  Three minutes later it really was all over for the islanders when Fraser Mackintosh doubled Newtonmore's advantage.  Jordan Murchison pulled one back for Skye just before the interval, but a second half double from Mackintosh brought an end to Skye's Premiership career after just one season in the top flight.

Newtonmore have gone through the Premier League season for the first time ever with an unbeaton record after defeating Skye 4-1.  Newtonmore captin Stephen MacDonald and his team mates were presented with the Premier League trophy after the game as the Blue and Whites made it an incredible seven titles in a row. Newtonmore manager PJ Mackintosh was delighted finishing the season with a win.  he told the Strathy: "Once again our defence was the foundation of what was a relatively comfortable win against Skye.  We lost fewer goals in 2010 when we won the league for the first time.  However, the difference this year is that we have not been dependent on one in form goal scorer with Fraser Mackintosh scoring a great hat-trick on this occasion.  That's our best goal scoring record in the league so far and we've played some great shinty".
