Land purchase update
 
The last few legal details are being finalised and we hope to take ownership in February. The dimensions of the new land are 167.62 metres [183.31 yards] by 109 metres [119.2 yards] so there is plenty room for a full sized training pitch.


We had set an initial target of £30k to buy the land and put up a stock fence. With a grant of £2k from Foundation Scotland we have reached just over £26k so if anyone is feeling generous it would be great to make our target through your donations. After we take ownership we will be seeking professional advice about our options for bringing the land up to training pitch standard and what additional costs will be needed.


Particular thanks are due to Aberdein Considine solicitors who are doing our legal work free of charge, have made a donation towards the land and are continuing as our first team sponsor for another year


Fixtures
The draft fixture list was circulated recently. The final list is expected on Monday 8
th February. Upcoming fixtures are:
13th Feb 1sts v Inverary [home] 2nds v Strathspey [away] 1330
20th Feb 1sts v Lochaber [home] 2nds v Lochside Rovers [away] 1330
27th Feb Open Day 1sts play Glasgow mid Argyll 1330. Details of start time and junior match to be confirmed

Season tickets will be available fom Monday 8th February.
         

Fundraising
We do not have a football package to raffle this year so in discussion with Jane Stewart, who has kindly offered to help with fundraising, the committee has agreed to put on an additional fundraiser. This will be a Race Night on
Saturday 30
th April.


Player/match ball/raffle sponsorship
There are still about 8 player sponsorships available at £25 by contacting Jazza on 07495 873127.


All the 1st team match ball sponsorships are taken unless we get another home cup tie. There are 6 2nd team match ball sponsorships still available at £20.

There are 7 whisky raffle sponsorships available at £15 or a gift in kind.


Diary dates
The Williamson 6s is on Wednesday 8th June
The Shinty Golf Texas Scramble is on Sunday 26th June
The Veterans 6s will be on Sunday 14th August


Player registration fee
Following the AGM the committee has decided that this year club players, coaches and committee membership will require to pay for Camanachd Association membership and player insurance [where required]. The cost is £10 for under 18 and £35 for 18 and over including insurance. Registration arrangements are made by the club secretary.


Youth shinty
Participation is fantastic with 52 kids turning up for training last Monday evening. Fraser Coyle is the youth coaching coordinator and with John Begg the Child Protection Officer and the coaches has been discussing our training requirements
.
8 coaches will be taking the Foundation course. Graeme Irvine has completed a level 1 refresher course.
A First Aid course is being arranged shortly for up to 12 people
a Safeguarding course is taking place on 17th March

Anyone interested in getting involved with helping the youth shinty is encouraged to speak to Fraser.


Merchandise
The latest new stock at the end of last year was the ladies polo shirts available in sizes 10 – 18. We are intending to buy car stickers and possibly some other items to expand the non clothing range of club merchandise.


We also have a limited edition of the print of the shinty at Balavil House in the nineteenth century framed in royal blue. A sample is available to see in the clubhouse. You can buy one for £75 and we will be raffling one at £1 a go in the near future.


125th Anniversary Photos
These are available to view at Neil Paterson Photography. We are currently getting prices and ordering details sorted out with Neil.



Eilan sign
Part of this blew off in Storm Henry so if anyone finds it please hand it in. We will be looking to either repair the sign of replace it depending on cost.



Advertising boards
An annual appeal that if you know of a business that would be prepared to take an ad board please get them committed. The cost is £350 which includes the supply of the sign. Our charge has not increased in ten years so it is crucial that we have large numbers as that is how we make our profit. There is an option of paying by instalments of £150, £105 & £105.
