Land Purchase
The Dr Johnny Cattanach Memorial Field came into our ownership on Friday 22
nd April. Paddy has already cut and rolled the pitch so that it is available for training to keep some of the pressure off the Eilan.

The next steps are a] To dig test holes throughout the field to identify the soil depth. This will then allow us to get a quote for levelling and reseeding the pitch and set a new phase 2 fund raising target.

Erect a stock fence which we have to do by 22nd October. We have a grant towards the cost, but we cannot afford to go ahead yet as we have not reached our initial fundraising target.

The initial fundraising target was £30000 which covered land purchase, legal fees, planning fees, the stock fencing and miscellaneous costs. The costs are coming out almost exactly as estimated, but despite using £5k of club reserves, the generous support of firms and individuals, two grants [from the Highland Council Area Discretionary Fund & Foundation Scotland], book sales, the dinner/auction and the 125th
anniversary raffle we are still £2050 short.

We are particularly grateful for donations from Aberdein Considine Solicitors, George Fraser of Tulloch Homes, Stephen Gilligan, John Begg, David & Ellen Cheyne, Angus Macpherson Fletcher, Bert Cooper, Ruaridh Ormiston, Stephen Borthwick & Meg Ferrier.

Would anyone else be willing to match their generosity?!

The Season So Far
After 5 games our 1
st team have only conceded one goal from open play which is an excellent achievement and sees us joint top of the Premier Division with some excellent performances on the building block of a strong defence. The 2nds have had some good results too despite being short of players for some games and are in second place in North Division 1.

The youth teams have also started their programme. The under 17s are a very young squad playing teams much older and bigger than them, but are gaining valuable experience which will reap rewards in the next two seasons.

Going The Extra Mile to Support The Club
We have been very fortunate in the travelling support we have had over the last few years which the 1
st team really appreciate. However the exploits of Brian Lawrence from Perthshire take some beating as he had had a foot operation so we did not expect to see him turn up at Tighnabruich to watch the Kyles match last month. His journey there started on Friday ….....................

bus Burrelton to Perth
train Perth to Glasgow Queen street
bus Queen street to Central station
ferry Gourock to Dunoon
bus Dunoon to Tignabruich 7 hours travelling

Overnight Friday & Saturday in Tignabruich

On Saturday evening Brian discovered that there were no buses on Sundays, but the good news is that a local offered to drive him to Dunoon on Sunday. The bad news is that he forgot so Brian was stranded in Tignabruich and the local hotel allowed him to stay at a reduced rate. On Monday morning.....

bus Tignabruich to Dunoon
Ferry Dunoon to Gourock

train Gourock to Central Station
Had to hobble on crutches to try to catch the Perth train in 7 mins, but missed it so 2 hours later …...
train Glasgow Central to Perth
bus Perth to Burrelton 7.5 hours travelling

Brians comment was that the 2 buses and a train to get to Kiltarlity last Saturday was a doddle and was all over in one day instead of four!
