David Cheyne Chieftain

The Eilan was such an appropriate setting to say farewell to David who had done so much for the club on and off the pitch. He had continued to help behind the scenes, even when he was confined to the house, and was always a great source of advice and ideas. He will be sorely missed by all of us.

Dementia Friends Monday 4th June Talla na Ros 1000 – 1400
There is an awareness session for this Compassionate Communities/Shinty Memories project which is looking to set up a Badenoch Group. Donnie Grant of Kingussie and John Mackenzie are among the leading lights involved in this. Many of you will know that the Sports Memories projects, of which shinty is one, have been winning awards for their impact in supporting people with dementia. This would help it take a step further as it goes towards making our communities dementia friendly.

On the field
The roller coaster has continued for both the senior teams with the 1sts win over Kinlochshiel blowing the Premiership title race wide open. This followed our win over Lovat which took us into the Mactavish final against Kinlochshiel on 16th June and the chance to make it three in a row.
After a poor performance at home to Fort William the 2nds have bounced back and had a comprehensive win in the local derby against Kingussie to keep their lead at the top of North Division 1.

Before the Mactavish final we now have a double header on 9th June. The 2nds will be playing Strathglass in the Strathdearn Cup at noon and the 1sts league fixture v Lovat will be put back to 1500.
Before then we have two big childrens events:
Monday 4thJune the Primary School play Kingussie/Alvie at the Dell at 1745[I think].
Wednesday 6th June Williamson 6s which starts at 1800 and of course there is the usual BBQ etc. Its always a really enjoyable evening.

We will also have a series of childrens competitions on the morning/early afternoon of the Mactavish Final on 16th June in Inverness.

New sign
It has arrived and we will get it fixed in place shortly

Road safety measures
The Councilhave raised a requisition for the road marking to be undertaken so we are waiting with bated breath. After that is done the club will probably need to create a short path along the verge on the Eilan side as the crossing point is supposed to be 10 yards towards the village.
