This is the cup for the junior teams of clubs which have two teams and for single team clubs in lower leagues in the north.

The competition was started in 1911 on the initiative of John MacAskill, secretary of Inverness Camanachd Club, who was a native of Strathdearn. The cup was presented by Co. Mackintosh of Balnespick. At first the competition was restricted to clubs in that district, but in the post-war years the area was gradually widened and in 1938 the competition was opened up to all junior clubs in Inverness-shire and Ross-shire. Newtonmore entered the competition that season. Although they beat Kingussie 9-2 in their first Strathdearn game and drew 4-4 with Kincraig, they then scratched from the competition. The competition was suspended during the war years.
